Francis Farmar is a painter of places. His designs appear to fly above the landscape in order to describe more than can normally be seen.

Francis was born in 1948 and was brought up in Surrey. He painted from an early age and went to St Martin’s School of Art and to the West of England College of Art, Bristol. Francis went onto work for the auctioneers Christies as Director of Modern British and Irish pictures and in 1986 he moved to Scotland to return to his own painting.

He now divides his time between his studio in Dorset, London and travelling abroad.

His design showing Henley Regatta was part of a series of his paintings covering the English Season.
